Clockworks

Since I had the Stampin’ Up! Clockworks set out I thought I better make another masculine card.  You never know when someone’s birthday sneaks up on you!  Ha!!   Once again, I used Gorgeous Grunge and Off the Grid stamp sets to add an interesting background to put the pocket watch against.

I really like making bows with a fork.  They’re easy to make when you need a little one, and they turn out with just the right shape.

Clockworks

This winter it seems I’ve been a lot sicker than normal.  Last week I went to the doctor and was told I had bronchitis. Ugh!  It never fails when I’m sick I need to be in my craft room creating for some important event.  So at the end of the week I drug myself off the couch and made a birthday card for my oldest son.
I’ve had Stampin’ Ups! Clockworks set for almost a year, and I hadn’t even opened the case!  That is down right shameful!  What took me so long?!!!  It’s a wonderful set to make a masculine card with.  I also pulled out one of my “must have sets”, Gorgeous Grunge.  Gorgeous Grunge is so versatile and can be used with a variety of card styles. The Off the Grid stamping set by Stampin’ Up! is anther great set to own.  I like the look of these stamps sets together.
Sometime soon I need try and make a feminine card with Clockworks.  I think it could make a very stunning vintage card!

Gorgeous Grunge

My granddaughter, Megan, turned 12 this month.  She is an outstanding athletic for her age, and I know she would say she is definitely not a bows and ribbons kind of girl!  I wanted to make the card fun and “girly”, but not fussy.  She does enjoy the outdoors, I have even known her to go fishing, so butterflies were my choice of “girly” for her! Wanting the card to be vibrant and colorful I chose to use the colors in the rainbow, my kind of rainbow anyway!  Ha!
To achieve a watercolor look for the background behind the butterflies, I inked my Gorgeous Grunge stamp and used my spritzer and misted the stamp with water.

Petite Petals

A late night creation!  The Petite Petals are so much fun to work with.  They’re just the right size to layer and make a bouquet!  I love them in Pool Party, so soft and delicate.  And, don’t you love the designer series paper from the Sweet Sorbet series!  Gotta love that black with blue!
I have enjoyed the cards I’ve seen on the web using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and decided to try my hand at it.  I altered the card from what I’ve seen by cutting down the piece that makes the closure and added a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 black card base.  I also made the card “landscaped” verses “portrait”.

I stepped up this card and added an additional layer on part of the inside of the card using the Hexagon Hive Thinlite Die.  What do you think?

You’re Lovely

Red, black and white are among my favorite combinations for cards.  I have seen some lovely cards with this combination of colors lately and it inspired me to make this card.
I recently got the You’re Lovely Stampin’ Up! stamp set and just had to pull it out and use it.  The two large stamps from this set, make an excellent focal point for cards.  Anytime I can use the flourish stamp from Everything Eleanor I will!  It was just the right touch I wanted for the background on the tag.  I wanted a vintage feel for this card, but without sponging, so when I inked up the Dictionary stamp I didn’t worry about ink coverage.
