Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop, January Mini Hop – Number Two

2016 January Mini Blog Hop Banner #2

Are you ready for round two of the January Mini Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop?  It will be fabulous!

As you make your rounds through the blog tour you will see projects from some amazing stampers.  The projects will feature products from the Stampin’ Up! Handmade from the Heart Occasions and Sale-A-Bration  catalogs.

Before I share my projects with you, I want to remind you this is a circular Blog Hop. That means that wherever you begin, if you continue to go to the “next” blog on the list, you will eventually wind up right where you first started. You will find the “next” button (and the “previous” button if you want to go backwards) at the end of this post. The “home” button will give you a listing of all participating blogs.

If you have been moving forward through the hop you would have arrived here after being dazzled by Kath Ricks.  She is so talented!

Happy Hopping!

I am featuring the Love Blossoms Suite (Bloomin’ Love stamp set and Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits dies) for my projects.  I love the lacy intricate design of the heart from the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies.   This die works well with any kind of paper you use.

I was thinking about the possible uses for this heart die other than the obvious, Valentine’s Day.  Here are some of the ideas I came up with for cards.

  • Friendship card
  • Just because card
  • Wedding card
  • Hello card
  • Happy birthday card
  • Love card
  • Thinking about you card
  • To a little girl card
  • Love you or romance card
  • Vintage card

Isn’t this a versatile die, I just love it!  Can you think of anymore ideas?  If you do, would you leave me the idea in the comment section, please!

Let me show you a couple of ideas based on romance/Valentine’s Day.

This first card has an “earthy” feel to it.

I was amazed how quickly this card came together.

Blooming Heart Woodgrain Side

Blooming Heart Woodgrain

My steps to making this card.

  • First I inked up the Hardwood background stamp with Tip Top Taupe ink and stamped the image on Tip Top Taupe card stock.
  • I then die cut the heart shape out.
  • Next I sponged the outside edges and inside edge of the cut out heart shape with Early Espresso ink.
  • I adhered the Real Red Cotton Ribbon and Venetian Crochet Trim onto the Tip Top Taupe piece.
  • Stamped the two small flowers and one larger flower from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set and die cut them out.  Sponged them with Early Espresso and adhered them to the heart shape.
  • Die cut the “xoxo” from the Circle Card Thinlits  and adhered this to the Tip Top Taupe piece.
  • Adhered the heart shape to the Early Espresso piece.  To make sure I had this position correctly I laid the Tip Top Taupe piece on the Early Espresso piece and after applying adhesive tot he heart piece I then laid the piece down through the cut out – like doing a puzzle piece.
  • Adhered the Early Espresso card stock to the Real Red card base.
  • Next I adhered the Tip Top Taupe piece to the Early Espresso piece.
  • Finished up the inside.

Traditional Valentine’s Day

This card comes with all the traditional flavors of Valentine’s Day.  Glitter paper adds the final touch for romance.

Balloon Celebration

Happy birthday to all of you born in January!  There are so many loved ones in my life that were born in January. In fact I think there is a least one birthday each month of the year, with some months with at least four birthdays!   The Balloon Celebration set from Stampin’ Up! is the perfect set for me to quickly make up a card to get off in the mail.

Balloon Celebration My Tanglewood Cottage

This card was made for the January, 2016, Creative Crew Challenge.  You can check out all of the designs the team came up with here.

The background for the balloons was completed by applying Pacific Point ink over a white sheet from the Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP with a brayer until I achieved an Ombre effect.  After stamping with VersaMark ink I embossed the balloon ribbon with Black Embossing Powder so the image would stamp over the lines.  After each balloon was stamped I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch.  (There is also a bundle – Balloon Celebration Photopolymer Bundle – that saves you 15% off the stamp set and punch!  I love to save!) The fun corners were made using the Curvy Corner Trio Punch.  Whisper White card stock is layered behind the background piece and the card base is Pacific Point.

You could use many colors of ink or paper to make this same card layout.  Let your imagination go wild!

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time, happy stamping!

Sky is the Limit

There were so many great products in the new Handmade from the Heart Occasions Catalog I had a hard time deciding what to buy first.  Once I received my first order my next challenge was which stamp set to use first!

I’ve decided I wanted to share a manly card with you so I used  one of my new toys – the World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  It is  wonderful to use simply as it was intended, to emboss your card stock. Or you can do as I did and I add ink (Old Olive and Early Espresso) directly on to the folder to “stamp” and emboss the images of the embossing folder at the same time.  Next I sponged Soft Sky over the card stock.

The  plane, greeting, and clouds are from the Sale-A-Bration set the Sky is the Limit.  It is a limited time set , only available through February 15th.  If you’re wanting this set get it before it is gone!

Ready for A Nice Cuppa Tea?

There are few things a good cup of tea cannot fix. Whether it be a black tea in the morning to wake up with, a lighter flowery tea in the afternoon with a meal, or a sleepy time tea for bed; tea can be used brighten up a day. I like to take any opportunity that I can to share a cup with a friend, so I created this card as a neat way to pass along a cute little pick me up.

Cups Kettles Side Step My Tanglewood Cottage

This is a single side step card with a gusseted treat pouch for tea nestled on the side step.  I made the treat pouch using the Envelope Punch Board.

Behind the treat pouch is a cute little creamer cut with a die from the Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies and an area to write a message to the recipient of the card.

The teapot, teacup, and spoon were also cut from dies from the Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies and the flowers are from the Sale-A-Bration set Flowering Fields.  The greeting is from A Nice Cuppa stamp set.

Did you notice the heart shape seems to be floating in air?  I used a tiny piece of a window sheet to adhere it to the cup.

All this talk of tea has made me want a cuppa, so off I go!  Enjoy the rest of the hop.  Your next stop is Jackie Susnik!  Be ready for some wonderful inspiration!

A Nice Cuppa Tea for You!

I was recently invited to be a Creative Crew member and design four projects for the Creative Crew Monthly Challenges on Splitcoaststampers for the next four months.  We are a team of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and we use primarily Stampin’ Up! products for the challenges.   I am so honored and I’m looking forward to the challenges.  Click here for the January gallery.

This card I am sharing with you is based on a challenge to use a decorative mask on a project. I made this card with one of my granddaughters in mind.  She works at a tea house and has come to love a good cup of tea.  The A Nice Cuppa stamp set worked perfect with her in mind.  This was such an easy card to make and a lot of fun.

MyTanglewoodCottageANiceCuppa2

After randomly sponging on colors (Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Old Olive) through the Dots & Stripes decorative mask, using the A Nice Cuppa stamp set I stamped the heart shape and greeting. I then embossed the Whisper White card stock using the Polka Dot Embossing Folder. Next I die cut a tea cup and some tea cup detail using the Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies.  Last I stamped and punched the flower from Petite Petals stamp set. Once all this was done I then assembled my card.

Here’s another card using with different colors of ink.
