The Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop Celebrates Occasions

February 2016

Are you ready a fabulous February Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop?  There are ten of us this month, all Stampin’ Up Demonstrators who love our products!

As you make your rounds through the blog tour you will see projects from some amazing stampers.  The projects will feature products from the Stampin’ Up! Handmade from the Heart Occasions, Sale-A-Bration and annual catalog to celebrate the occasions in our lives.

Before I share my projects with you, I want to remind you this is a circular Blog Hop. That means that wherever you begin, if you continue to go to the “next” blog on the list, you will eventually wind up right where you first started. You will find the “next” button (and the “previous” button if you want to go backwards) at the end of this post. The “home” button will give you a listing of all participating blogs.

If you have been moving forward through the hop you would have arrived here after visiting Heidi Weaver’s blog.  She never fails to amaze me!

Happy Hopping!

Timeless Textures and Butterfly Basics

The Timeless Textures in the Occasions catalog is quickly becoming one of my favorite sets.  The set can make an interesting background with a variety of options.

For this card I also used Butterfly Basics, using the small butterfly from the set as the focal point.  I die cut the butterfly using the Butterflies Thinlits, then used the small butterfly die from the Bold Butterfly Framelits to layer on top of it.  I wanted a vintage look for the card so I sponged Soft Suede ink around the edges.

The greeting “Sending Wishes Your Way” is perfect for a birthday card, anniversary, job promotion, or…  What would you use this for?

Birthday Bloom

There are many beautiful cards on the internet featuring the lovely set, Birthday Blooms.  Another hit from the Stampin’ Up! Handmade from the Heart Occasions catalog.

On many occasions I need a card to say I care for a friend, and this card works well to express my love and respect for those who bless my life.  I love the font they used for the greeting “for you”.

I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color the flower.  Water coloring would work well with this too.  You could even use colored pencils or crayons!  (I am going to be stamping this image on colored paper too in the near future.)

After stamping and coloring the flower I cut a portion of the flower away and then slide a Ovals Collection Framelits under and around the flower to cut out the oval (the breakout technique).

The card base is Pool Party and then a layer from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.  I actually used Calypso Coral to layer the banner along with the Pool Party layer which was embossed using the Softly Falling EF.  Did you notice the cute Botanical Gardens Jewel?

Everything Eleanor

With winter slowly moving towards spring here in Oregon, I decided to make a butterfly card.  I was in the mood for something more whimsical and light and just love the flourish stamp in Everything Eleanor to achieve the whimsical look.

The white leave were cut using a die from the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies. Once again I used the Butterflies Thinlits to cut out the white butterfly layer and then used the Bold Butterfly Framelits to cut out the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper layer.  The greeting is from the Birthday Blooms set.  The final touch to the corners was made using the Curvy Corner Trio Punch.

Well stampers, it’s time to move on to Raquelle Clifton’s blog.  I’m so excited to see what she has created to inspire us! She is new to our hop, so please be sure to take time to welcome her.

  1. Where do you live in Oregon? I am in Dallas, just outside of Salem. I do love your cards and I’m glad I stumbled across your blog.

    • Hi there Jeena. I live in Roseburg just south of Eugene. Thank you so much for liking my cards! It is appreciated!

In March (18th and 19th) there will be a scrapbook event with many vendors at the Seven Feathers in Canyonville. If you are in my area, please stop by and say hi. There will be a group of us demonstrating make-n-takes and projects/cards to look at in our booth!

    • Thanks Deb! I’ve made several cards lately using the Timeless Textures, and continue to use it, if nothing else on the inside! It’s like Gorgeous Grunge, you can do so much with it!

  2. Thank you, Marie, for continuing to be such an important part of our wonderful blog hop. I love your projects. Each one is, as expected, a “wow” card. My favourite, however, has to be the first. I have a soft spot for the vintage look and you’ve mastered it with this card.

  3. Marie I really like how you combined the butterfly with the Timeless Textures–a very pretty card. As is your Everything Eleanor card–so many lovely touches, from the leaves to the “swish” to the glimmer paper. But the colored Birthday Bloom is my fav–lovely coloring!

    • Thanks Laura for your comment. The butterfly is really pretty in “real life” I wish I could get a better picture. The Blushing Bride Glitter paper really is so gorgeous. Thanks for stopping by!
