In the Meadow

I love to take walks along lakes, rivers or ocean sides.  So creating this card was a lot of fun for me.  This card was inspired one of the April, 2016  Creative Crew Challenges.  This challenge was to create a scene that had flowers, have a lake in the scene, and a path leading to a lake.  The stamp set In the Meadow from Stampin’ Up! came to my rescue and was the perfect fit for this challenge!

My Tanglewood Cottage In the Meadow

To make this card I started by stamping the mountains in the background using Black Stazon Ink.  (It’s important to use Stazon because water based inks will bleed.)  Using a brayer I added Marina Mist ink above the mountains for the sky and a little below the mountains for the lake being careful to not deposit any ink on the mountains. Old Olive ink was used on the lower portion of the card.Once I was done with the brayer I used an Aqua Painter to move the ink around in the sky, lake and grassy area.  Next I used Chocolate Chip ink to put in my path, also using an Aqua Painter.  The Chocolate Chip ink easily blended and covered the Old Olive ink.

The next step was to add the trees, grass and flowers, again using Black Stazon to stamp the images, with the exception of using some Old Olive ink to add more dimension to the grass. Mossy Meadow ink was used to fill in the leaves on the trees, and Chocolate Chip for the trunk.  The flowers were colored in using markers and a gel pen.  I used Smoky Slate and Basic Gray, along with the Old Olive and Mossy Meadow to watercolor the mountains.

The greeting “Think of You” from the Westlands stamp set was stamped on Whisper White card stock and die cut using the Circles Collection Framelits.  Die cut flowers from Botanical Builder Framelit Dies added the final touches.

Thank for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the card and were inspired to make one yourself!

  1. An absolutely stunning card, Marie. I love the scene you’ve created and am so very happy that this stamp set continues into the new catalogue. At least they got that right.

  2. I rarely leave comments on cards, but felt I had to with this one of yours. Stunning. You did an awesome job combining stamps to make a beautiful scene.
