Vintage Leaves and Sheltering Tree with a Touch of Christmas Magic

A few weeks ago I was wondering if fall would ever come.  The leaves at our home hadn’t began to change and the weather was still in the upper 70s and 80s.  However, fall has finally arrived!  Leaves are transforming into beautiful works of art and provide a beautiful contrast to the evergreens.

Today’s card is a celebration of fall.

To create the background I first stamped the leaves from Sheltering Tree randomly in Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, and Rich Razzelberry directly on the side with the writing on the Woodland embossing folder. (Yep, I used all those colors, even though I couldn’t capture all the colors with my camera.)  After placing a piece of Whisper White paper in the EF I gave the folder a good massage to help aid the transfer of the inks onto the paper, and then ran it through Big Shot.

The Leaves were stamped with two of the smaller leaves from the Vintage Leaf stamp set.  To add the color to the leaves I used the rock and roll technique along with gently adding other colors to the stamp.  I then sponged Crushed Curry ink over the leaves to add more depth to them.  They were die cut with the Leaflets Framelits.

The bird was die cut using the Birds & Blooms Thinlits from Early Espresso card stock.  Did you notice the trees behind the cute little bird?  The trees are from the Christmas Magic set.  I thought they added a nice touch.  The greeting is from the Rose Wonder set.

Here’s a card using the same stamps, card stock and inks, just a different direction!  I find it interesting how just changing the direction of the card makes a big difference.

I hope you were inspired to stamp today.  Thanks for stopping by!
