As many of you know Stampin’ Ups! Sale-A-Bration is just around the corner, January 28th, and runs through March 31, 2014. It’s a wonderful time to get free stamps, papers, embellishment, and more! For every $50 you spend you get to choose a Sale-A-Bration gift! How fun is that!!! I love gifts!
The Sweet Sorbet Designer coordinates with the Petal Parade stamp set beautifully. While making this card I found a new favorite duo color combination, Pool Party and Pistachio Pudding! The bird’s wing is stamped with the large flower from the Petal Parade set to add interest and I colored the pearl for the flower with a black sharpie. The card is a joy fold card and you can find the tutorial at Spitcoaststampers.
Here’s your sneak peak of what’s coming for Sale-A-Bation. Don’t you just love this designer series paper!

BIRD BUILDER PUNCH FROM STAMP CAMP
Whew! Yesterday I was beginning to wonder if I could finish up the samples of the cards for today’s stamp camp, clean the house, and do the shopping. Tonight I’m vegging out and contemplating what I will be doing for the Christmas card camp I will be doing in a couple of months! I must like stress!
I did learn several lessons at stamp camp today:
- Lesson 1: 10 minutes cards really don’t exist (anyway at my stamp camps)! Between my need to explain the process; the stamp and ink to be passed around the table; and everyone working at a different pace, it is not reality!
- Lesson 2: 10 cards are too many when your plan is to finish in four hours with lunch half way through camp! Again, not reality!
In spite of 10 minute cards really being 30 minute cards, we had a great time today! The ladies enjoyed the cards and I enjoyed the ladies!
When I was preparing for stamp camp I was looking on-line for inspiration and in some instances cards to CASE. I tried to make them simple (Ha! That didn’t work!). I found a butterfly card that I liked and thought would be simple, but I didn’t want to use butterflies again, so I wasn’t going to CASE the card.
One of my friends came over and was helping me decide what cards to make and loved the butterfly card and wanted me to use the idea. But, I just couldn’t use another butterfly!!!! So, she began looking through the Stampin’ Up catalog while I was mulling the idea over in my head. Flowers were out, they don’t fly, we don’t have hot air balloons in the current catalog, so my friend said to me, “What about birds?” I knew I did not have the current bird set “Polka-Dot Pieces”, so after much thought here is the card I created by paper piecing the birds based on the stamp set.
Do you think it looks anything like the butterfly card I got my original inspiration from Posted by Karin Åkesdotter?
I have to laugh at myself!
