Lighthearted Leaves and Woodland EF
In previous posts I have shared other cards using the Lighthearted Leaves. It is a wonderful set for spring or fall. Once I started using the set I found myself drawn to it over and over again. To create the following card I also used the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The stamp set and EF really complement each other.
Here is another full color tutorial for you featuring the card above. Click Here

Lighthearted Leaves and Gorgeous Grunge are a great match up.
As I was thinking about this card, I knew I wanted strong fall colors. The in-colors introduced in 2014 are still some of my favorite colors, and they are beautiful colors for fall. Blackberry Bliss is such a rich, elegant color, that’s why I chose it for the leaf color and my card base. The splashes of color were created using the Gorgeous Grunge set. I used Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist, and Black Berry Bliss. To add some “sparkle” to the card I used Silver Metallic Thread behind the leaf.
Don’ you just love the colors of fall!

A few months ago my husband came running into the house at about 10:00 at night and said “You’ve got to see this. A once in a life time siting – anyway, perhaps for us! ” Even though it was dark out we could see four baby owls. They appeared to be learning to fly. When they landed in the trees it took them a moment to get a footing. It was fascinating to watch them.
So what does an owl story have to do with card making you may ask! Well it is inspiration for this card.
Here is another card using the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set from Stampin’ Up! The little owl is nestled behind the leaves and peeking out from a section of card cut away using the Leaflet Framelits. The owl is made using the Owl Punch.
Ink was applied to the front side of the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder before running the Whisper White card stock through the Big Shot to add color and depth behind the trees.
The loops behind the leaves were made using burlap ribbon. I pulled the ribbon apart, formed the loops, and held them in place with glue dots.
Thank you for stopping by. If you would like to purchase items using this card, simply click on the image(s) below.
Until next time, happy stamping!
The leaves in the Lighthearted Leaves set from Stampin’ Up! has a Zentangle and whimsical feel. Such a fun set!
What can you do with these leaves?
- You can color the leaves with markers or colored pencils
- Watercolor them
- Emboss the leaves
- Sponge with color
- Dampen and then crinkle the leaves
- Stamp them and then die cut out
Just to name a few ideas!
The large maple leaf has center stage on this card. Using Black Memento ink I stamped the leaf on Pumpkin Pie card stock and then die cut it out. I die cut out a second leaf from Cajun Craze card stock to layer behind the stamped leaf.
I really like the die cut set that coordinates with the Lighthearted Leaves set – it is called Leaflets Framelits.
Another whimsical set is Happy Scenes and pairs very nicely with the Lighthearted Leaves set. For this card I stamped the autumn scene twice on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and then colored in the scene with markers.
Needing some fall stamp sets to create some fun cards with? Lighthearted Leaves and Happy Scenes are wonderful sets and are the perfect choice.

Welcome to The September Mix Up Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop. As you make your rounds through the blog tour you will see fabulous projects from the Holiday and Annual Stampin’ Up! catalogs.
Before I share my projects with you, I want to remind you this is a circular Blog Hop. That means that wherever you begin, if you continue to go to the “next” blog on the list, you will eventually wind up right where you first started. You will find the “next” button (and the “previous” button – if you want to go backwards) at the end of this post. The “home” button will give you a listing of all participating blogs.
If you have been moving forward through the hop you would have arrived here after oohing and aahing over Heidi Weaver’s projects. I always love seeing what she has to share.
I know you’ll enjoy seeing all the other blogs too. Happy hopping!
I was outside earlier listening to the birds. I find it interesting that this time of year the bird sounds are more of a chirp. It is as they are talking about life! During the spring the sounds are a happy song with many melodies blending and rising all around me in an expectation of new life. I do love listening to the birds anytime of the year – it is so relaxing.
For this first card I used the bird stamp from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set which is found in the Annual Catalog. Can’t you image the birds talking?
The Basic Gray piece of card stock is dry embossed using the Woodland Textured Impressions EF which is from the Holiday Catalog.
I stamped the tree from Sheltering Tree set on the Calypso Coral. This set is also in the Annual Catalog.
Let’s shake things up a bit! To create this shaker card I used a set from the Holiday Catalog, Happy Scenes. The opening is cut using the large leaf die from the Leaflets Framelits Dies.
I embossed the image with Black Embossing Powder prior to water coloring the sky and ground. When I was done water coloring I colored in the pumpkins and leaves with markers.
My biggest challenge with this card was the beads, they kept sticking to the acetate sheet – static clean!!
Wonderland is a fabulous set found in the Holiday Catalog. The trees stamp alone make a beautiful card or can be used with so many other stamps. I posted a “Walk Down Memory Lane” card earlier this week using a retired set and the Wonderland set. You can check it out here, it is the second card of the post.
I wish I could have capture the elegance of this card with my camera.
I first embossed the trees with White Embossing Powder, stamped again (offsetting a bit) with VersaMark, and then embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. I used a Silver Foil Sheet for the layer behind the stamped image.
Thank you for stopping by My Tanglewood Cottage. I hope you were inspired!

We are still experiencing summer here in Oregon, in fact tomorrow is to be in the 90s. Even though summer is in the air autumn is around the corner.
Today I am sharing Lighthearted Leaves and Bordering Blooms stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! Such lovely sets that really show off autumn colors. To color the images I used Stampin’ Write markers Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Old Olive.
To make this card you will need:
- Stamp sets – Lighthearted Leaves and Bordering Blooms
- Ink pad (I used Early Espresso)
- Stampin’ Write Markers
- Woodlands Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
- 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Crush Curry
- Very Vanilla card stock cut as follows: (2) 5 1/4″ x 4″ pieces, 5 1/4″ x 1″ and, a 3″ x 3″ piece
- Fold the 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Crush Curry in half to form the card base.
- Stamp the large leaf from Lighthearted Leaves on the 3″ x 3″ piece of Very Vanilla.
- Stamp the large leaf in the right lower corner of one of the 5 1/4″ x 4″ pieces. Don’t stamp the full leaf, just a portion of the leaf. This is for the inside of the card.
- Stamp the whimsical flower border from Bordering Blooms on the 5 1/4″ x 1″ piece of Very Vanilla.
- Stamp the greeting “Believe” on the lower portion 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Very Vanilla then place inside the embossing folder and run through the Big Shot.
- Color in the leaf and whimsical flowers with markers or use colored pencils.
- Cut out the leaf using the large leaf framelits.
- Attach the dry embossed Very Vanilla panel to the card base.
- Attach the whimsical flower piece to the Very Vanilla panel.
- Attach the leaf with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Attach the inside piece to the inside of the card base.
Isn’t this a fun card? Hope you liked it! Thanks for stopping by!

The last few days have been crazy busy. Thursday was filled with commitments, and yesterday I spent the day with my daughter-in-law’s mother learning how to can.
Diane is a special lady, she is always so gracious to open her home up to anyone and is wiling to share her knowledge of gardening and cooking with everyone. So, she deserves a thank you card!
Diane’s favorite color is green, so I decided to use the new Lighthearted Leaves stamp set from Stampin’ Up!
I stamped the large leaf four times with black Memento Ink onto Old Olive card stock and then used the Chalk Marker to fill in some of the areas. The bottom layer leaf was cut out using the Leaflets Framelits Die and the other three were fussy cut out, cutting only a portion of the leaf in order to create a 3-D effect.
