Wacky Watercooler November Blog Hop Christmas Celebration

Time for another Wacky Watercooler Blog hop!  This month we are focusing on Christmas and I am excited for you to see all the beautiful cards we have so share with you!

How the Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop Works:

Before I show you my cards I wanted to remind you that this is a circular Blog Hop. That means that wherever you begin, if you continue to go to the “next” blog on the list, you will eventually wind up right where you first started. You will find the “next” button (and the “previous” button if you want to go backwards) at the end of this post. The “home” button will give you a listing of all participating blogs.

If you have been moving forward through the Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop you would have arrived here after visiting Sherri Lee’s blog.  She has such fun creations!

Snow Place Shakes It Up!

I love snowmen.  I usually have two Christmas trees in my home and one is decorate with only snowmen.  I usually buy a couple of new snowmen to add to my tree each year.  I like to take my time and find just the right two.  You’d be surprised at all the different kinds of snowmen there are!

My first card is a shaker card, and it’s a snowman card!

Using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits I used the large, medium, and small “circle” swirly to create my snowman.  The Snow Place stamp dresses up my snowman!!

Here’s the instructions:

  • Using a piece of 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ Whisper White card stock first cut out the large “circle” swirly (Swirly Scribbles Thinlits) at the bottom of the piece.  Retain this cut out piece.
  • Lay the medium “circle” swirly die so it drops down into the large cut out section and cut it out.  Discard this partial swirly piece.
  • Lay the small “circle” swirly die so it drops down into the medium cut out section. Discard this partial swirly piece.
  • Now place the piece in the Softly Falling Embossing Folder and emboss the piece.
  • Adhere a piece of 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ window sheet to the back of the Whisper White piece over the opening.  Dust the piece with your Embossing Buddy – this will prevent your beads from sticking to it.
  • Cut out a medium and small “circle” swirly.
  • Adhere the large “circle” swirly piece to the window sheet into the area you cut it out of like you would a puzzle piece.
  • Adhere the medium “circle” swirly piece to the window sheet into the area you cut it out of like you would a puzzle piece.
  • Adhere the small “circle” swirly  piece to the window sheet into the area you cut it out of like you would a puzzle piece.  You should be able to see your snowman now!
  • Using the Snow Friends Framelits die cut the earmuff from Real Red card stock and adhere to the snowman head.
  • Stamp the scarf with Emerald Envy ink from the Snow Place stamp set and die cut it out using the Snow Friends Framelits die and adhere to the snowman.
  • Die cut two arms from Chocolate Chips card stock using the Snow Friends Framelits die.
  • Punch the banner out of Real Red card stock using the Duet Banner Punch.
  • Slightly bend the greeting “Time to Chill” (Snow Place set) and place on your acrylic block.  Using Black Memento Ink stamp the greeting on the banner.
  • Lay the banner and hands on your snowman to determine exactly where you want each piece before adhering to your snowman.  Once you have determined where you want your pieces, adhere to the snowman.
  • Using a black sharpie color three basic pearls black and adhere them in the snowman’s belly area.
  • Turn the piece over and run a piece of the Foam Adhesive Strips around the lower section of the snowman (the large “circle” swirly area).
  • Fill with beads.
  • Remove protective film from the foam and adhere a piece of Whisper White 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 to finish the shaker area.  (I had to trim mine down a bit afterwards.)
  • Adhere additional pieces of Foam Adhesive Strips to the corners and where you need them to support your card.   Adhere the snowman piece to a piece of folded 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Extra Thick Whisper White card stock.

Fast and Easy Noel

This card is one of the fastest I’ve many in a long time.  There’s no stamping except on the inside of the card.

A piece of vellum is embossed using the Woodlands Embossing Folder to create a frosty scene.  Then I used the Pretty Pines Thinlits for the boughs and the Noel from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits to create more layers and dimension.  Basic Rhinestones are sprinkled over the vellum and a  Real Red bow pulls it all together.

A Special Fold with the Star of Lights

What does Night of Navy, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, and Silver Glimmer Paper have in common?  A Star of Lights card of course!

I used the retired set All Ye Faithful to stamp Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus since Christ is who the star led the shepherds to after all!

I have to say this fold is my favorite card fold, I have seen it called the Pop Out Fold.  It is not the double Z fold you see on the Pinterest even though it looks very similar.  Here are the instructions on how to create this fold.

Well, that rounds up my projects to share with you this hop.  Thank you for stopping by!

You are now off to see what Gail Allen has created for us to enjoy.  Be prepared to be delighted!

Oh, What Fun Happy Scenes makes with White Christmas

While for some the holidays might mean quite a bit of traveling I am blessed to have my family come to me. Although I do worry about the weather and pray for their safety I am a bit jealous of the scenery they get to see. When two of my grand daughters were younger they had about a three and a half hour drive over the mountain to come see me. They were always excited to see the snow covered trees, fresh untouched powder, and views of icy valleys. This next card showcases a similar setting of a family heading through the snow after cutting down their Christmas tree.  The stamps used were “White Christmas”,”Happy Scenes”,and “Oh, What Fun”.

Happy Scenes 3The trees are embossed with clear embossing powder.
The clear embossing really makes the trees “pop”.

Happy Scenes 4This fold is the Fun Fold Pop Out Card.
It is one of my favorite folds for smaller images.
Don’t just love how the stamp sets White Christmas and Happy Scene look together?

Here is a second version of this card.  This one is sponged with Soft Sky around the Whisper White edges.

Before you go I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and this little penguin just says it all!

Snow Place Merry

To create this card:

  • Stamp the penguin from Snow Place onto Whisper White card stock using black ink. Color the penguin’s beak and feet using a Daffodil Delight marker.  Die cut the image using the Snow Friends Framelits Dies.
  • Gently rub your embossing budding over the Bermuda Bay card stock.  Stamp the scarf and hat onto Bermuda Bay card stock using VersaMark ink.  Sprinkle Cherry Cobbler embossing powder over the images and heat set.  Die cut the image using the Snow Friends Framelits Dies.
  • Assemble the penguin.
  • Gently rub your embossing budding over the Whisper White card stock.
  • After die cutting the “merry” from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies place it on the Whisper White card stock to determine where you want to stamp the word Christmas.
  • Stamp “Christmas” using VersaMark ink then sprinkle Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder over the word Christmas.  Heat set.
  • Stamp the large snowflake from the stamp set Oh, What Fun using VersaMark ink on the Whisper White card stock.  Sprinkle White embossing power over image and heat set.
  • Randomly stamp the snowflake images from Snow Place on the Whisper White card stock using VersaMark ink.  Sprinkle White embossing power over images and heat set.
  • Randomly stamp the tiny stars and dots from Oh, What Fun on the Whisper White card stock using VersaMark ink.  Sprinkle Silver embossing power over images and heat set.
  • Randomly sponge Pool Party ink over the Whisper White card stock.
  • Adhere the penguin and the word merry to the Whisper White card stock.
  • Attach the Whisper White card stock to the Pool Party card base.

Until next time,  happy stamping!

Snow Place Fun Fold Pop Out Card

Snow Place – “Mr. Penguin”

Penguins surely are strange creatures with their plump little bodies, and flightless wings. Their little feet pattering across the snow and playing among the powder surely must be a sight to see. Now my chances of seeing one are slim outside zoos and the internet, so I don’t know too much about them, but with the holiday season rapidly approaching I can’t help but get curious. So I did a little googling and found a couple of facts about our feathered friends. Did you know that their black and white coloring is actually camouflage? In the deep dark parts of the ocean from above their black backs blend in while from underneath their white tummies match the sky. Also contrary to popular belief they do not live in the North pole. They live in the South pole because there they have no land predators. They are pretty neat little creatures, and so of course I had to make a winter card with one. The stamp set used is Stampin’ Up set Snow Place which is just a perfect name for a set containing our icy little friends.

I normally don’t like to CASE too many cards, but I found a cute fun fold pop out card designed by Tami White.  Since she used this cute little penguin on her card I just had to CASE her card.  I did add my one style to this card however.  Thanks for sharing Tami, and for the inspiration!

Snow Place 2 MyTanglewoodCottage

To create the igloo I cut out a circle then placed the circle in the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and ran it through the Big Shot.  I then used the Large Oval punch to create the door to the igloo.  To add some depth to the igloo I lightly sponged it with Pool Party ink.

Snow Place 4 MyTanglewoodCottage

The snow on the black panel was created with a stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using VersaMark ink on the Basic Black panel, then covered the stamped image with White Embossing Powder and heat set it.

I will definitely be using this fun fold more.  What I love about this card is it is quick and simple to make.  And did I say fun?

Here are PDF instructions I created for this card:   Pop Out Card Fold

Until next time have fun creating your own fun fold pop out card – inky fingers to you!
